Swell Events #3

Hi, everyone,

I'd love to take this opportunity to make those of you who have been Jonesing for surf as bad as I have JEALOUS!

Marc and I are off to PERU next Thursday, November 8th. We'll be back on the 19th, so hopefully you all will get waves, too. We'll be wearing 3/2s, so it won't be a wetsuit-free trip, but as Bill Cannell (cannellclassicboats.com) has been telling us, the waves have been BIG, BIG, BIG!

Bill Cannell is a friend we met through the surf shop who has been traveling to Peru for over 30 years, and he has invited us along. We decided this is a chance not to be missed. (Never miss an opportunity to go somewhere exotic with someone who has a great vibe and has experience and knowledge.)

Don't forget Sunscreen, we have SafeSea Jellyfish and Sea Lice repellant. It works great in tropical water, strongly recommended in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama. Sea Lice are like Black Flies of the ocean. They SUCK!

Heading to the Tropics to Surf?

Another recommendation if you're going on vacation in the tropics, start taking Claritin or similar a day or two before you get there and continue till you leave. It'll keep you from feeling the effects of the “no-see-ums”, Jellyfish stings, and Sea Lice bites.

More About our Trip to Peru

We'll be starting in San Bartolo for a few nights at Bill's friend Antonio's Hotel- Penascal Surf Hotel.

Then we'll either fly to Trujillo or take a bus (it's a 12 hour trip, but the busses have luxury beds aboard and you leave at 8:00 P.M. and arrive at 8:00 A.M., so I suppose it's not too hard to take). If we fly, it's an hour ride, then on to Chicama.

Chicama again...

Marc is really looking forward to surfing UNCROWDED waves, as am I. I love an adventure. We'll keep in touch while we're gone. Bill has a computer there, so if I can hop on, I'll try and update the newsletter as time permits.
