Memorial Day update

Hi everyone.

Well, the surf has been great and summer is blowing us kisses nearly every day.  The weather has been great, and the beach has been beautiful. We’ve been playing Doubles Volleyball at Old Orchard for about a month, a few times in our swimsuits! We had surf every day last week, and everyone in the water got their fill. It was consistent and fun.

The water’s warming up and we’re all sporting our thinner suits more and more often. The duck-dives are still a little cold on the bare heads, but the freedom of going “hoodless” is most liberating!  We still have a few XCEL infiniti chest zip 4/3s ($175) on the sale rack and more of the 3/2s ($175). The O’Neill Psycho winter suits are on sale for $300, and we have Mutant 3/2s in, with the 4/3s due in this week.

STAND UP PADDLERS DEMO DAY!

Mark your calendar, June 20 is SUP (Stand Up Paddle board) Demo Day, our rep will be in Kennebunk for demos showing the board models and paddling techniques. You’ll be surprised how easy they are to ride and how HARD of a workout they are. It’s like the “workout concentrate”. I’ve been going out a few times a week, and I’ve been sore from my toes to my hair follicles since I started! I guess I’ll eventually get in shape (I thought I WAS kind of in shape.) This is the latest training tool for many professional athletes. We have a “demo” SUP and we have more coming, so stop in and try one!

Carolyn and Greg’s party at the Beach House on Bayberry was a blast, and now “The Beach House” will be rented out all summer. If you’re looking for a rental in or near Kennebunk, let us know. I bet we can steer you in the right direction (Seeley’d love to sell you something too, if that’s what you’re looking for). Their party always kicks off the summer season with a bang (nice job on the sliding glass door, mum).

We’ll be having our first SKIM CONTEST  June 1, so call or stop in for registration and details.  Sheldon Pope did a terrific job last year, and he’s gearing up for boomer Skim season this year, with more contests at local beaches, including OOB, Kennebunk (Gooch’s) and Fortunes Rocks.

Mom’s Morning will be starting again the third Tuesday in June Mom's morning has been changed to Wednesday mornings at 11 to accommodate Saco/OOB surf camp (which I'm teaching in oob).  Call to register. We’ll be formatting registration differently this year (new registrants get priority), to accommodate all the new ladies, so it looks like some of you are going to have to take the plunge and get your own gear, and join the new ladies rocking your own new boards and suits.  We’d love to have you join us with your new (or used) equipment (no matter where you get it) so we can help you polish your skills and perfect your “technique”. GUYS; you can come too, if you think you can cope with all that estrogen!

Autism Aspergers Clinics

We’ll be having our free clinics again this year, so if you or anyone you know has a connection to an Autistic or Asperger’s child or adult, please have them email us at aquaholicsurf@hotmail.com to register for a clinic. Please include the words Autism or Asperger’s on the subject line. We’ll be running one clinic a month in June, July and August.
