Calling all volunteers!

This summer, "Autistic/Aspergers" Night will be Tuesdays, July 22nd and August 19th from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. We will need Surfers to share the stoke with these great kids. Last year we had 23 kids and it was an absolute BLAST. These are kids and young adults who are Autistic or have Aspergers Syndrome. They are fun and love the water (and they LOVE wetsuits).A

Aquaholics provides all the gear, you provide the ocean knowledge. We will need Surfers and “Taxi’s”. The surfers (instructors) will help the kids (students) catch waves and the “taxi’s” (non-surfing volunteers) will bring the students back out to the instructors. We hope to have a 2 to 1 ratio (2 volunteers to 1 student) so, please spread the word so Aquaholics can use all 50 of our boards to SHARE THE STOKE. If you want to volunteer and don’t have a wetsuit, Aquaholics will provide one. These surf nights are free to the Autistic/Aspergers kids, so bring it on!

One of my sons was a participant last year and had the time of his life. He felt so cool! The volunteers were amazing. What a gift it was to us. It's so hard to take children with autism to "regular" events. This was structured just for them and was a very safe environment for them to try something new.

I hope to get my younger son to join his older brother this year. He's further down the spectrum, but we'll give it a shot!

Like the previous comment, my son was also participated in the surfing last year and really enjoyed himself. It is hard for him to participate normally due to his slow processing skills. This program allowed him to go at his own pace. All the volunteers were so positive and caring. He is looking forward to participating again this year.
