Due to schedule conflicts (being a long time Saco resident, Nanci has opted to teach the Saco / Old Orchard Beach Surf Camps herself), Mom’s Morning will we held on Wednesdays from 11 to 12:30. If you need a wetsuit, show up at the shop between 10:30 (not earlier, please) and 10:45 (not later either!) for your wetsuit fitting (time is tight, and you really need to get the first part of the beach lesson). This is a free program and due to immense popularity one session a summer is all you get,...

Calling all volunteers! Special Kids Camps

Aquaholics provides all the gear, you provide the ocean knowledge. We will need Surfers and “Taxi’s”. The surfers (instructors) will help the kids (students) catch waves and the “taxi’s” (non-surfing volunteers) will bring the students back out to the instructors. We hope to have a 2 to 1 ratio (2 volunteers to 1 student) so, please spread the word so Aquaholics can use all 50 of our boards to SHARE THE STOKE. If you want to volunteer and don’t have a wetsuit...

Our rep will be in Kennebunk for demos showing the board models and
paddling techniques. You'll be surprised how easy they are to ride and
how HARD of a workout they are. It's like the "workout concentrate".
I've been going out a few times a week, and I've been sore from my toes
to my hair follicles since I started! I guess I'll eventually get in
shape (I thought I WAS kind of in shape.) This is the latest training
tool for many professional athletes.

Hi everyone.

Well, the surf has been great and summer is blowing us kisses
nearly every day. The weather has been
great, and the beach has been beautiful. We’ve been playing Doubles Volleyball
at Old Orchard for about a month, a few times in our swimsuits! We had surf every day last week, and everyone in the water got their fill. It was consistent and fun.

The water’s warming up and we’re all sporting our thinner
suits more and more often. The duck-dives are ...

Well, it's Wednesday and Evan (Mr. Potato Head) Flaherty and Jeremy (Jerry you're so funny) Riordan left for Liberia at 10:00 this morning after a fantastic early surf at Little Hawaii. It was our second surf there, the first being on a small day last week. Today was head and a half high and clean as a whistle. We got up at 4:30 and (once Jerry got his bag together) we headed to check Negra and Avellanas. While we walked to Little Hawaii Jerry could have tripped over Lola while she slept on the beach...

Friday, Evan and I surfed Little Hawaii while Jeremy (mister lag-behind) surfed the Rivermouth. In the afternoon we surfed Junquillal, but because of Semana Santa, it was pretty crowded, so we checked the Rivermouth by the estuary near our lot. It was SUPER fun! We drove to Negra to run an errand, and Evan decided to go for a quick surf. I was watching while he went top to bottom for a lip ride. He said he got his bell rung. A few guys paddled in right through the rocks, I watched one guy get his...

If I go to Witches Rock (Roca Bruja), I like to drive in when the tide is high early in the morning, camp out and surf the wave with only a few people (in theory). It's best at high tide. If you surf it crack of dawn or sunset, you don't have the "boat people" to contend with because since the boat taxis won't leave before sunrise, they don't get there until later in the morning and they leave long before sunset. The boats leave out of Playa Hermosa, south of Liberia and it takes an hour and a half...

Friends Visiting Us In Costa Rica

Monday was a little overhead, and sucking walls. Ellie and Marc (Boutet) were fearless, going all out. Mark Arseneault was thoroughly enjoying the walling lefts that were lining up for him. Marc Boutet was dropping in on everything, holding back nothing, until he put his fin into his heel, slicing a nasty gash into his foot. Sharks are a problem at Marbella, so I STRONGLY encouraged him to go in (beating or no beating) since he was bleeding. Marc had been riding a 9'2" Rusty Desert Island, which...

Hi everyone,

Sorry it's taken so long... My Internet connection is not
working, so I have to go to a wifi or Internet café to get this out.

I left Maine
early January 30th. The flights were good, I flew American and they
didn't charge for my boards. SCORE!

I arrived in Costa
Rica a little early, got my car (more
expensive than I expected) and was loaded and on my way in no time. I headed
for Playa Grande, to my friends Surf Shop "Frijoles Locos". Since my rental in
Playa ...

Hi everybody,

I just came back from surfing at Gooch's beach; the surf was
about chest to head high, perfect peaks. The wind was offshore, not too strong,
just nice to groom the faces. It's snowing SO hard, it's a little hard to see
with the flakes blowing into your eyes, but it's very pretty out. Lizzie and I
caught a bunch of nice waves. It wasn't too cold, but it does get a little
chilly when you sit too long. Mark Seeley was out as well as David from The
Landing School and a cou...

Wrapping Up A Great Camp Season

We had a HUGE camp season, but by far, the most fun camp was the AUTISM
AND ASPERGERS camp. Those kids were amazing! If you know anyone who
might be interested in attending this FREE camp or anyone interested in
volunteering in the water, have them contact someone here at
Aquaholics.

As usual the lesson and camp season was busy, and we're really
seeing some talented athletes picking up this sport. Hopefully we'll be
keeping the vibe happy and showing knowledge of the etiquette we're...
