Witches Rock On A Donut

Posted on 03/19/2008 at 01:05 pm | Viewed 518 times | 0 comments

Hi Everybody,

What an adventure! Frances is leaving tomorrow (Monday, March 17) and she has grown tired of the beach scene. Hmmm? I have wanted to go to Witches Rock (Santa Rosa National Park) up in Northern Guanacaste since I got here. My nieces Chelsea and Margie are leaving this week and I knew they'd be up for an adventure, so I started planning to head up there.

Friends Visiting Us In Costa Rica

Hi Everyone,

Sorry these have been so sporadic. The Internet here has been horrible. Often it takes from 5 to 8 minutes to open an email and another 8 to 10 to load the reply page. Needless to say, if you're corresponding with me, if it has nothing to the email other than a greeting, please don't send it. It takes about 2 hours to check 11 messages and delete my junk. (If you forward a joke, I'm deleting those as junk.) It's too long of a process in a hot and dusty café.

Greetings from Costa Rica!

Hi everyone,

Sorry it's taken so long... My Internet connection is not working, so I have to go to a wifi or Internet café to get this out.

I left Maine early January 30th. The flights were good, I flew American and they didn't charge for my boards. SCORE!

I arrived in Costa Rica a little early, got my car (more expensive than I expected) and was loaded and on my way in no time. I headed for Playa Grande, to my friends Surf Shop "Frijoles Locos". Since my rental in Playa Junquillal was only set to start February 1, Ian and Corynne Bean were gracious enough to offer me a couple of nights stay in their lovely new house above their new surf shop. Nice digs! I sold most of last year's leftover stock to them to sell in their store. Out with my old, in with their new! I'm glad to make room for more, and they're glad to have new stock.

Surfing in a Blizzard!!!

Hi everybody,

I just came back from surfing at Gooch's beach; the surf was about chest to head high, perfect peaks. The wind was offshore, not too strong, just nice to groom the faces. It's snowing SO hard, it's a little hard to see with the flakes blowing into your eyes, but it's very pretty out. Lizzie and I caught a bunch of nice waves. It wasn't too cold, but it does get a little chilly when you sit too long. Mark Seeley was out as well as David from The Landing School and a couple of guys in a car with Cali plates. The Cali guys seemed stoked to get some uncrowded, pretty waves.

Camp Rocks at Aquaholics Surf Camps

Wrapping Up A Great Camp Season

Posted on 08/16/2007 at 12:24 pm | Viewed 270 times | 0 comments

We had a HUGE camp season, but by far, the most fun camp was the AUTISM AND ASPERGERS camp. Those kids were amazing! If you know anyone who might be interested in attending this FREE camp or anyone interested in volunteering in the water, have them contact someone here at Aquaholics.

As usual the lesson and camp season was busy, and we're really seeing some talented athletes picking up this sport. Hopefully we'll be keeping the vibe happy and showing knowledge of the etiquette we're teaching and learning every day.
