Want the kids to keep on learning right through summer and see learning as a fun, exhilarating experience (and get them out into the fresh air)? The ocean is a great classroom that has many interesting secrets to reveal. Give us your kids for a week and have them come home teaching YOU about the ocean!

WOW! It feels like we have already had more summer this year than we had all last year! What a wonderful gift! AND we're getting some nice little peelers with this delightful warm weather.

I have been having a blast with the Women at Higgins. You ladies (and Nanl) ROCK! Danielle, Sylvia and Buffy, don't give up! That was a rough day. Leigh (both of you), Nicole, Sarah, Nanl, Melinda, Jane,  Megan, Erin... You are a great FUN group to hang out with!

We'll be gathering at East End beach Wednesday at 8:30 A.M. to Stand Up Paddle with a mission. Offshore drilling is a BAD idea. Especially since we haven't even begun to see the long term effects of this disaster. Join us Wednesday morning for a paddle around East End. I'll have at least 7 boards, aplease call to register so I know what to bring (207-967-8650). Spread the word so more SUP'ers and Kayakers will show up.

What's up.

Summer fashion and swim is arriving daily. And Mom's morning will be at Higgins this Tuesday. Call to register.

Saturdays and Sundays will be SURF CAMP mornings for those who have real jobs. Surf Camp will run 10 to 11:30 and will cost $110 per person. There will be age groups according to registration. Families are welcome to register. These new activities will start in early March when I return from Coata Rica.

Winter Hours

Posted on 12/27/2009 at 09:19 am | Viewed 844 times | 0 comments

Okay, hope you all had a great Christmas (you know, December 25th). We'll be winding down for the winter trips. I leave for Orlando SurfExpo January 13th to the 16th. Eric will be open weekends, Saturday 9-5 and Sunday 9-3. I will be in the shop Monday through Friday 12-5 until SurfExpo, then I'll be back with regular winter hours until I go to Costa Rica from January 26th to March 2nd.  I CAN NOT wait to get back to warm water! (I can wait for the aggresive crowds, though. I wish I wasn't such a cold water wimp!) The surf here has been GREAT! Lots of weekend swells and great showings for moms mornings. See you soon. Have a GREAT winter, and keep checking the blogs from Expo and Costa Rica. Nanci

Maine has some pretty good surfers. Aquaholics would like to know who you think is the best. Let's put it to vote. We can create categories; Retro Masters (those who are over 50) Still got its (over 40) Yahoos (over 30), Prime of their lifers (20 and over) and Groms (under 20). We'll come up with a deadline when this gets off the ground. We're going to rate according to numbers, so spread the word. We'll tally it up and give trophies. Let's start with input as to what we should have for guidelines and criteria. Get the word out! Use the comments link to vote and send ideas for criteria. Let's see who's REALLY the best!
