Just returned from SurfExpo in Orlando with lots of new ideas and goals. New this spring, something going on every morning. Fitness levels will be through the roof! 2 hour SUP Monday, Wednesday and Friday A.M. with a goal for a long distance SUP trip camping along the Maine coast late summer... I'm thinking support boat with tents, cooking supplies and food. Mom's mornings will still be on Tuesdays and new for spring, we'll add Thursdays with the emphasis on meeting new people to surf and socialize with. Saturdays and Sundays will be SURF CAMP mornings for those who have real jobs. Surf Camp will run 10 to 11:30 and will cost $110 per person. There will be age groups according to registration. Families are welcome to register. These new activities will start in early March when I return from Coata Rica.

Winter Hours

Okay, hope you all had a great Christmas (you know, December 25th). We'll be winding down for the winter trips. I leave for Orlando SurfExpo January 13th to the 16th. Eric will be open weekends, Saturday 9-5 and Sunday 9-3. I will be in the shop Monday through Friday 12-5 until SurfExpo, then I'll be back with regular winter hours until I go to Costa Rica from January 26th to March 2nd.  I CAN NOT wait to get back to warm water! (I can wait for the aggresive crowds, though. I wish I wasn't such a cold water wimp!) The surf here has been GREAT! Lots of weekend swells and great showings for moms mornings. See you soon. Have a GREAT winter, and keep checking the blogs from Expo and Costa Rica. Nanci

Maine has some pretty good surfers. Aquaholics would like to know who you think is the best. Let's put it to vote. We can create categories; Retro Masters (those who are over 50) Still got its (over 40) Yahoos (over 30), Prime of their lifers (20 and over) and Groms (under 20). We'll come up with a deadline when this gets off the ground. We're going to rate according to numbers, so spread the word. We'll tally it up and give trophies. Let's start with input as to what we should have for guidelines and criteria. Get the word out! Use the comments link to vote and send ideas for criteria. Let's see who's REALLY the best!

What a GREAT PARTY!

Thanks to Global Surf Industries for the donation of a SURFBOARD (any in stock board!), Rob Molt from Sector Nine for the donation of a skateboard (any in stock board!), Marc Angelillo from Rip Curl for gloves, Mike Saras from Dakine for a BUNCH of Dakine schwag, Greg Levy from O'neill for a BUNCH of O'neill schwag, Alexis Wruble from Reef and Nixon for a bunch of great stuff, Dan Fitzgerald at Xcel who donated 7 mil drylock booties. Thanks for the great prizes! The NE surfrider folks think this was the best fundraiser yet! Woohoo! Now let's have a party at Goose Rocks! I'll post photos as soon as Mattboutet.com puts some up.

So far we have as donationsfor the Surf and Salsa FUNDRAISER event this weekend. For info, read the previous blog.

Aquaholics is paying for the band and the door proceeds go to Surfrider
A surfboard from Global Surf Industries (We're going to clear all other boards from the store and let them have their pick from surfboards I have in stock from Global Surf industries)
A Sector 9 Skateboard (same as above)
A bunch of Ripcurl gloves (received)
A bunch of Dakine bags and schwag (being sent)
A bunch of O'neill tees, hats and stickers (received)
A pair of Xcel 7 mil booties (in stock)
Reef schwag (being sent)
A patagonia men's Down Sweater and a patagonia ladies Jacket (in stock)
This is the plan: (and I will need volunteers for this part) Saturday at 5, right after we close, Aquaholics will turn the store floor into a dance area, with all product except donations moved to the back room and downstairs. The donated product and brands (and banners if I have them) will be prominently displayed around the LIVE CUBAN BAND Primo Cubano.
This is the first weekend of Kennebunk's Christmas Prelude and Aquaholics in a very busy stretch of road for the festivities, so we will have a TON of exposure. We still want donations if you haven't responded to my requests, there's still time!
I have posters all over town on this one, I have it on my website, facebook page and those of you who know me well know I have been BLABBING it all over the world! The band is amazing, and they have a following, and they have publicized this event also. I'm hoping for a diverse crowd, and the response has been HUGE. Tell all your friends, send what you can for donations and schwag and...
SHARE THE STOKE!

Mark your calendar for this Saturday, December 5th. Primo Cubano, a fantastic Cuban Dance Band will be playing at a Salsa Dance party at the surf shop starting at 8. DON'T MISS IT. Proceeds will benefit the Surfrider Foundation, with an emphasis on keeping public access open to Goose Rocks Beach.

Great weekend!

So, Friday was growing and disorganized. Saturday was fun at some surprise spots. Kennebunk was fun, but a little disorganized. Not as big as we were hoping for. Sunday was pretty much the same, and dwindling in size. Monday was diminishing further, but fun enough that I blew the shop off for a few hours in the afternoon. I barely was there! Tuesday was as perfect as it gets for MOM'S MORNING. About 4 feet on the set waves and peeling, offshore breeze. It doesn't get any better for learning. The Gals AND Guys did an amazing job! We sold almost every winter suit in the shop, and I'll see if I can get more sale suits, so call or email if you want one.

Surf Report from Kennebunk

Hi,

Kennebunk is a little bigger than yesterday- overhead. I't disorganized like yesterday though. Looks like the swell is dropping or we're seeing a lull. Get out there before it's gone. Another New England fake out? Arrrgggh. Hope not. Today is supposed to be North wind,8-11 ft. Tonight, dropping to  6-9 with West wind. We'll see!
